Evaluation of the Psychological Intervention Program Based on the Information-Motivation-Behavioral Skills (IMB) Model in Alleviating Negative Emotions in Patients with Severe Multiple Trauma
Abstract:Objective To evaluate the effect of a psychological intervention program based on the Information-Motivation-Behavioral Skills (IMB) model in alleviating negative emotions in patients with severe multiple trauma. Methods Forty-eight patients with severe multiple trauma who underwent rehabilitation at the Naval Qingdao Specialized Convalescence Center from January 2022 to December 2024 were selected. There were 27 males and 21 females, with an average age of (44.6 ± 4.3) years, ranging from 20 to 65 years. The patients were randomly divided into a conventional care group and a psychological intervention group, with 24 patients in each group. The conventional care group received routine nursing care, while the psychological intervention group received a psychological intervention program based on the IMB model in addition to routine care. The scores of negative emotions and nursing satisfaction were compared between the two groups at different time points. Results There was no statistically significant difference in the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) scores between the two groups upon admission (P > 0.05). After admission, the SAS and SDS scores of the psychological intervention group were lower than those of the conventional care group at 3 days post-admission and at discharge, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). The nursing satisfaction rate of the psychological intervention group (95.8%) was higher than that of the conventional care group (83.3%), with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). Conclusion A psychological intervention program based on the IMB model can not only alleviate negative emotions in patients with severe multiple trauma but also improve patient satisfaction.
