Risk Factors for Critical Complications After Repair of Tetralogy of Fallot in Children
Abstract:Objective To analyze the risk factors for critical complications after repair of tetralogy of fallot (TOF) in children. Methods A total of 120 patients with TOF admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University from May 2019 to May 2023 were selected. There were 65 males and 55 females, with a mean age of (1.7±0.3) years, ranging from 0 to 12 years. Patients were divided into two groups based on the occurrence of major outcome events including heart failure, acute renal insufficiency, severe arrhythmia, severe hypoxemia, pulmonary edema and consolidation, severe infection, and severe pulmonary valve regurgitation. Binary logistic regression analysis was used to identify risk factors for critical complications after TOF repair. Results Prolonged cardiopulmonary bypass time, low left ventricular ejection fraction after surgery, not using Del Nido cardioplegia solution, abnormal central venous oxygen saturation levels 2 hours post-surgery, and elevated arterial lactate levels were independent risk factors for critical complications after TOF repair. Conclusion Early identification and effective intervention are key to postoperative monitoring and treatment. Patients with prolonged cardiopulmonary bypass time, low left ventricular ejection fraction after surgery, not using Del Nido cardioplegia solution, abnormal central venous oxygen saturation levels 2 hours post-surgery, and elevated arterial lactate levels should be closely monitored, and timely measures should be taken to reduce the incidence of critical complications.
