Expert Consensus on the Diagnosis and Management of Closed Thoracoabdominal Injuries in the Open-Sea Ship Environment (2025)
Abstract:The open-sea area refers to waters more than 200 nautical miles from the coastline, with a complex environment. The assessment, treatment, and evacuation of mass casualties in the open-sea ship environment will be more challenging [1]. Blunt force, especially the blast wave, can cause injuries to important organs in the thorax and abdomen without obvious external wounds, presenting a 'mild external but severe internal' characteristic. The condition is urgent, diagnosis is difficult, and rapid and accurate assessment and timely effective treatment are required [2-3]. In view of this, the Expert Consensus Writing Group was established by the Anesthesia Innovation Diagnosis and Treatment Group of the Chinese Society of Anesthesiology and the Anesthesia Physicians Branch of the Shanghai Medical Association. Experts from the Naval Medical University, Army Medical University, Air Force Medical University, the First Medical Center of the Chinese People's Liberation Army General Hospital, the General Hospital of the Eastern Theater Command, the General Hospital of the Northern Theater Command, the 900th Hospital of the Joint Logistics Support Force, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Tongji University, and Southeast University, experts in anesthesiology, general surgery, thoracic surgery, ultrasound medicine, and health logistics participated in the development of the 'Expert Consensus on the Diagnosis and Management of Closed Thoracoabdominal Injuries in the Open-Sea Ship Environment'. The purpose is to form guiding opinions on the diagnosis and treatment of closed thoracoabdominal injuries in the open-sea ship environment, so as to enhance the frontline diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities in war trauma for thoracoabdominal closed injuries.
