A comparative observation on the clinical outcomes of twin mothers and infants under different pregnancy methods

Abstract:Objective To explore the twin maternal and infant outcomes of in vitro fertilization embryo transfer and natural conception.Method A total of 496 twin pregnant women admitted to the Northern Theater Command General Hospital from January 2017 to December 2022 were selected and divided into IVF-ET group(n=166)and natural conception group(n=330)according to their different pregnancy methods.Compare the clinical outcomes of two groups of pregnant women and newborns.Results The incidence of miscarriage,premature rupture of membranes,and cervical insufficiency(CI)in the IVE-ET group was higher than that in the natural conception group at 16 to 25+6 weeks of pregnancy,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);Pregnancy ≥26 weeks,the incidence of gestational diabetes,gestational hypertension,gestational anemia,postpartum hemorrhage in IVF-ET group were higher than those in natural pregnancy group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The incidence of hypocalcemia and hypoglycemia in newborns in the IVF-ET group was higher than that in the natural conception group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The IVF-ET group at 16 to 25+6 weeks of pregnancy has a higher miscarriage rate than natural conception group,in the IVF-ET group at 26 to 31+6 weeks,The delivery rate of IVF-ET group was higher than that of natural conception group.Twin pregnancies with IVF-ET at ≥26 weeks can increase the incidence of complications in pregnant women and newborns.
