Study on the Effect of Dexmedetomidine Combined with Quetiapine in the Treatment of Postoperative Delirium After Cardiac Surgery
Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of dexmedetomidine combined with quetiapine in the treatment of postoperative delirium after cardiac surgery. Methods A total of 39 patients with postoperative delirium after cardiac surgery admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University from January 2020 to January 2022 were selected. There were 30 males and 9 females, with an average age of (62.62±5.91) years, ranging from 35 to 75 years. The patients were randomly divided into a conventional group (quetiapine treatment, n=12) and an observation group (dexmedetomidine combined with quetiapine treatment, n=27) using a random number table method. The cardiovascular-related indicators, related time indicators during hospitalization, and clinical outcomes of the two groups were compared. Results There was no statistically significant difference in cardiovascular-related indicators between the two groups (P>0.05). The duration of delirium, mechanical ventilation time, ICU hospitalization time, and total hospitalization time in the observation group were shorter than those in the conventional group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). The incidence of delirium-related adverse events in the observation group was lower than that in the conventional group, with a statistically significant difference (P<0.05). Conclusion The use of dexmedetomidine combined with quetiapine in patients with postoperative delirium after cardiac surgery can effectively shorten the hospitalization time, duration of delirium, mechanical ventilation time, and ICU hospitalization time, with a lower incidence of adverse events.
