Intervention Mechanisms of Cryotherapy in Acute Musculoskeletal Injuries
Abstract:Acute musculoskeletal injury (AMI) includes muscle contusion, ligament lesions, tendon lesions, etc., which may lead to disability due to accompanying pain [1]. Physical therapy is one of the non-pharmacological treatment methods for AMI, characterized by being non-invasive and having fewer adverse reactions. Among them, cryotherapy is simple, low-cost, and effective, and is widely used in clinical practice [2]. This article aims to explore the mechanisms of cryotherapy in treating AMI, systematically elaborating the pathways through which it promotes injury repair by regulating hemodynamics, inflammatory responses, pain transmission, and macrophage function, providing a basis for the treatment of musculoskeletal diseases in clinical settings.
