Predictive Value of Serum Pentraxin-3, Soluble Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor-1, and Retinol-Binding Protein-4 for Pregnancy Outcomes in Women with Hypertensive Disorders in Pregnancy
Abstract:Objective: To investigate the predictive value of serum pentraxin-3 (PTX-3), soluble vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-1 (sFlt-1), and retinol-binding protein-4 (RBP-4) for pregnancy outcomes in women with hypertensive disorders in pregnancy (HDCP). Methods: A total of 116 HDCP pregnant women admitted to Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital from August 2021 to August 2023 were selected as the study group, with a mean age of (33.26±4.58) years and age range of 23–38 years. The participants were divided into groups based on the severity of their condition: gestational hypertension group, mild preeclampsia group, and severe preeclampsia group. They were also classified into groups based on pregnancy outcomes: good pregnancy outcome group and adverse pregnancy outcome group. Another 116 healthy pregnant women who completed prenatal care and delivered during the same period, matched by age and body mass index, were selected as the control group. Levels of PTX-3, sFlt-1, and RBP-4 were measured. Logistic regression analysis was used to identify factors affecting adverse pregnancy outcomes in HDCP. Results: Serum levels of PTX-3, sFlt-1, and RBP-4 in the study group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05). The levels of PTX-3, sFlt-1, and RBP-4 increased progressively in the gestational hypertension group, mild preeclampsia group, and severe preeclampsia group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). The incidence of preterm birth and fetal distress was significantly higher in the study group compared to the control group (P < 0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that serum levels of PTX-3, sFlt-1, and RBP-4 were all risk factors for adverse pregnancy outcomes in HDCP. The predictive value of combined detection of the three markers was better than that of individual detection, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Serum levels of PTX-3, sFlt-1, and RBP-4 are significantly elevated in HDCP pregnant women and are risk factors for adverse pregnancy outcomes. Combined detection of the three markers can enhance the predictive value for pregnancy outcomes in HDCP pregnant women.
