Abstract:Objective To investigate the impact of remote ischemic conditioning(RIC)on the inflammatory response associated with traumatic hemorrhagic shock. Methods A total of 116 patients with traumatic hemorrhagic shock caused by blunt or penetrating injuries, admitted to the General Hospital of Northern Theater Command from January 2021 to December 2022,including 75 males and 41 females,aged(37.4±12.7)years old, ranging form 25 to 52 years old.Patients were divided into the RIC group(n=57)and the control group(n=59)based on whether they received RIC intervention.Clinical outcomes[mechanical ventilation time, intensive care unit(ICU)length of stay,hospital-acquired infections,24-hour mortality, and 28-day mortality]and inflammatory marker levels[interleukin-6(IL-6),C-reactive protein(CRP),and procalcitonin(PCT)]at admission,1 hour after admission, and 24 hours after admission were compared between the two groups. Results No statistically significant differences were observed between the RIC and control groups in mechanical ventilation time,ICU length of stay,hospital-acquired infections,24-hour mortality,or 28-day mortality(P>0.05).No RIC-related adverse events were reported. At admission and 1 hour after admission,IL-6,CRP,and PCT levels showed no significant differences between the two groups(P>0.05).At 24 hours after admission,IL-6 and CRP levels in the RIC group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05),while PCT levels the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion RIC suppresses the elevation of inflammatory markers IL-6 and CRP without increasing adverse clinical outcomes in patients with traumatic hemorrhagic shock.
