Effect of Omadacycline Combined with Cefoperazone-Sulbactam on Pulmonary Infection Caused by Multidrug-Resistant Acinetobacter baumannii
Abstract:Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of omadacycline combined with cefoperazone-sulbactam in the treatment of multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii pulmonary infection. Methods A total of 153 patients diagnosed with Acinetobacter baumannii infection at the Northern Theater Command General Hospital between January 2021 and May 2023 were selected as the study subjects. There were 99 males and 54 females, with a mean age of (70.34±17.44) years, ranging from 18 to 101 years. Propensity score matching was used to divide the patients into an omadacycline group (n=51) and a colistin sulfate group (n=102) in a 1:2 ratio. The omadacycline group received omadacycline combined with cefoperazone-sulbactam, while the colistin sulfate group received colistin sulfate combined with cefoperazone-sulbactam. The treatment efficacy, bacterial clearance rate, 28-day mortality, and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results The effective rate of the omadacycline group was 66.7% (34/51), which was higher than that of the colistin sulfate group at 55.9% (57/102), with a statistically significant difference (P<0.05). The bacterial clearance rates of the omadacycline group and the colistin sulfate group were 33.3% (17/51) and 19.6% (20/102), respectively, with no statistically significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). The 28-day mortality rates were 29.4% (15/51) in the omadacycline group and 25.5% (26/102) in the colistin sulfate group, with no statistically significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). The overall incidence of adverse reactions was 29.4% (15/51) in the omadacycline group and 19.6% (20/102) in the colistin sulfate group, with no statistically significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion The combination of omadacycline and cefoperazone-sulbactam shows good clinical efficacy and high safety in the treatment of multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii pulmonary infection in ICU patients.
