Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between homocysteine (Hcy) level and the risk of aortic disease. Methods A total of 220 patients with aortic disease admitted to the First Hospital of China Medical University from January 2018 to August 2023 were selected as the study subjects. According to the type of aortic disease, the patients were divided into group A(n=75,acute aor-tic dissection),Group B(n=20,non-acute aortic dissection),Group C(n=66,ascending aortic aneurysm),and Group D(n=59,descending aortic aneurysm). Patients who had normal physical examination results at the same time in our hospital were randomly selected as group E(n=130). Hcy levels and blood-related indicators(hemoglobin, white blood cells,D-dimer,myocardial enzyme,C-reactive protein, creatinine, urea) were measured and compared. Results The Hcy level and the high homocysteine(HHcy) in group A were significantly higher than those in the other 4 groups, and the Hcy level and HHcy incidence in group E were significantly lower than those in the other 4 groups, with statistical significance(P<0.05). The age of group B was significantly higher than that of group A,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). The prevalence of hypertension in group 4 with aortic disease was significantly higher than that in group E,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). The D-dimer,myocardial enzyme and C-reactive protein of group A were significantly higher than those of the other 4 groups, while the D-dimer,myocardial enzyme and C-reactive protein of group E were significantly lower than those of the other 4 groups, with statistical significance(P<0.05). Multiple Logistic regression analysis showed that HHcy was an independent risk factor for aortic disease. Conclusion Compared with the normal group, patients with aortic disease showed higher Hcy levels, especially in the acute aortic dissection group. HHcy is a risk factor for aortic disease.
