Expression of receptor acivator of nuclear factor-κB ligand in unicystic amelobastoma before and after decompression

Abstract：Objective To examine the expression of receptor acivator of nuclear factor-κB ligand(RANKL)before and after the de-compression of the unicystic ameloblastoma,and to explore the possible mechanism of the unicystic ameloblastoma treated by the de-compression.Methods The samples from 40 patients with pathologically confirmed unicystic ameloblastoma were collected and the expression of RANKL in the epithelial layer of unicystic amelolastoma was detected by immunohistochemical staining.Results All 20 cases of amelblastoma showed RANKL expression in the epithelium before opening decompression,the positive rate after window o-pening decompression was significantly lower than that before window opening decompression,and the difference was statistically signif-icant(P<0.05).Conclusion RANKL is highly expressed in the ameloblastoma cyst wall epithelium,and the expression level was reduced after window decompression.RANKL may play a key role in the mechanism of bone resorption in unicystic amelobastoma.
