Abstract:Objective To analyze the influence of hypertension on severe aortic regurgitation cardiac hypertrophy via perioperative serum cystatin C(CysC)levels. Methods Fifty patients who underwent aortic valve replacement(AVR)due to severe aortic regur-gitation admitted to the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of the General Hospital of Northern Theater Command from June to October 2021 were selected as the study objects, and divided into non-hypertensive group(n=23)and hypertensive group(n=27).The clinical data, perioperative cardiac ultrasound index data,CysC and glomerular filtration rate(GFR)were recorded and com-pared between the two groups. Results There was no significant difference in preoperative and postoperative GFR between the two groups(P>0.05).The preoperative and postoperative CysC,posterior left ventricular wall thickness and diastolic septal thickness in hypertension group were higher than those in non-hypertension group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Hypertension can aggravate the degree of myocardial hypertrophy in severe aortic regurgitation.Even though the adverse effects of aortic regurgitation on left ventricular volume and pressure overload are removed by surgical operation, hypertension can still aggravate the myocardial damage in patients with aortic regurgitation. The change trend of serum CysC can be used as an index to reflect the effect of hypertension on the degree of myocardial hypertrophy in aortic regurgitation patients.
