Value of magnetic resonance imaging in diagnosis of piriformis syndrome

Abstract：Objective To investigate the value of magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)in diagnosis of piriformis syndrome.Methods Multi-sequences of MRI were performed in patients with piriformis syndrome.Results T1WI in multi-sepuence MRI shoued hypointense signal and T2WI with fat suppresion showed hyperintense signal when congestion edema spasm or adhesion occurred with injured piriformis.In DWI,it showed limited diffusion according to different diffusion sensitivity factor b.In peripheral nerve MRI.Injured sciatic nerve was thickened and displaced.Conclusion High resolution soft tissue resolution,multi sequence and multi parameter imaging technology can provide abundant information for the clinical diagnosis of piriformis syndrome,and have great advantages for the definite diagnosis of piriformis syndrome.
