Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of early antibiotic bone cement for the treatment of Achilles tendon rupture with infection. Methods A retrospective study was performed on 40 cases of Achilles tendon rupture with infection who were admitted from January 2012 to January 2016.Patients who were admitted from January 2012 to December 2013 were divided into Group A,the others who were admitted from January 2014 to January 2016 were in Group B,with 20 cases in each group.Patients in Group A received conventional one stage debridement, aseptic dressing wounds after anti infection treatment, the others in Group B received debridement, antibiotic bone cement were added in Achilles tendon defect. The average hospitalization time, infection control time, healing time and evaluation of growth the wound of soft tissue were compared between the two groups. Results Compared with Group A,the average hospitalization time, infection control time, and healing time in Group B were significantly shorter(P<0.01);the soft tissue wound good growth rate in Group B(95.0%) was higher than that in Group A(60.0%),all the differences had statistical significance(P<0.05).Conclusion The curative effect of early antibiotic bone cement for the treatment of Achilles tendon rupture with infection is effective, which can shorten the time of infection control, reduce hospitalization time, promote wound healing, and improve the characteristics of wound and soft tissue growth.
