Abstract:Objective To investigate the feasibility and safety of retrograde wire technique for the treatment of chronic total occlusions. Methods Twenty seven patients with coronary artery chronic total occlusions who received coronary artery in -tervention by retrograde wire technique following failure of routine transcutaneous antegrade wire technique were followed up from October 2009 to February 2011 by angiography and on telephone .Results The instant success rate of procedures was 96.3%,and no severe complications or death occurred during hospital stay .Following-up for 6-12months after operation re-vealed that 1patient failed in operation had symptoms of angina ,and according to the coronary arteriongraphy ,100% rest-enosis in braket occurred in 1 patient with success operation who had symptoms of angina 6 months after operation .No angi-na or major cardiovascular events happened in the other 25 patients with success operation .Conclusion Retrograde wire technique significantly increase the success rate of procedure in patients who failed in antegrade wire technique .It is feasible and safe to perform retrograde wire technique in selected patients with coronary artery chronic total occlusions with ideal short term outcome.
