Abstract:This study introduced a new method for the assessment of volume responsiveness:the bending and pressing the lower extremities test(BPLE-T). The BPLE-T can produce hemodynamic changes. Various hemodynamic parameters, such as systolic blood pressure( SBP) ,diastolic blood pressure( DBP) ,mean arterial pressure( MAP) ,central venous pres-sure(CVP),heart rate(HR),respiratory frequency(R),stroke volume(SV),and cardiac output(CO),can be determined via invasive or non-invasive monitoring techniques, and volume responsiveness can be evaluated based on changes in these parameters during the BPLE-T procedure. Moreover, this test relates to another concept:pressure reactivity. Evaluations of pressure reactivity can reveal the resistance status of the peripheral arterial system and thereby indicate whether a patient re-quires vasoactive drugs and/or how these drugs should be selectively administered. Thus, relative to other methods for asses-sing volume responsiveness, the BPLE-T is not only simple to utilize,non-invasive,and repeatable but also capable of simul-taneously evaluating both volume responsiveness and pressure reactivity.
