Clinical application of ECMO treatment in patients with respiratory and heart failure in three cases

Abstract：Objective To explore the curative efficacy of ECMO treatment in patients with respiratory and heart fail-ure. Methods A retrospective study was performed on 3 cases with respiratory failure and heart failure treated via ECMO in the department of emergency medicine of The General Hospital of Shenyang Military Command from July 2014 to April 2015. Patient′s respiratory rate(RR),heart rate(HR),mean arterial pressure(MAP),carbon dioxide partial pressure ( PaCO2 ) and oxygen saturation( SpO2 ) were compared and analyzed between pre-operation and post-operation. Results Af-ter treatment of ECMO at 3 days,HR went down to normal,RR did not change significantly,MAP dropped to normal,PaCO2 decreased to normal levels, SpO2 increase to normal, and stable hemodynamics turned to normal in all 3 cases. Conclusion ECMO treatment for patients with respiratory failure and heart failure have a good therapeutic effect and prognosis.
