Abstract:Chronic ankle instability(CAI)is a common ankle injury,which is manifested by ankle pain,swelling,weakness,instability and frequent sprain.At present,there are still many difficulties and controversies in the treatment of CAI,without any standardized treatment protocol.Simultaneously with the continuous development of arthroscopic skills in the field of joint surgery,arthroscopy has been increasingly applied in CAI management,show-ing a trend to replace open surgeries.In this paper,the latest progress,indications and curative effects of CAI by open surgeriesor arthroscopy were introduced in detail,in order to provide help and reference for clinical choices.
