Abstract:Objective To explore the early efficacy of robot-assisted percutaneous kyphoplasty(PKP)for the treatment of osteoporotic thoracolumbar compression fractures. Methods A retrospective analysis was conduc-ted on 70 patients with single segment osteoporotic thoracolumbar compression fractures treated with PKP at the Tra-ditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Ziyang. There were 23 males and 47 females aged 65-84(mean 72.5)years.Patients were divided into the robot group(n=36)or the traditional group(n=34)based on the surgical method. The robotic group underwent PKP with the assistance of Zuo Hang's minimally invasive spinal surgery robot for lo-calization and puncture, while the traditional group underwent PKP by using a C-arm X-ray machine. The general data, operation time, fluoroscopy frequency, cement distribution, leakage of bone cement,VAS score on the first day after surgery and Cobb angle were compared between the two groups. Results The intraoperative fluoroscopy fre-quency of the robot group was significantly less than that of the traditional group(20.0±3.9 vs.23.6±4.6),and the excellent rate of bone cement distribution was much higher(88.9%vs.70.6%,both P<0.05).The operation time[min,25(20,30)vs.25(20,30)],bone cement leakage rate(13.9%vs.23.5%),VAS scores 1 d after sur-gery[2(1,4)vs.2(2,4)],and posterior Cobb angle(9.1°±2.1° vs.9.5°±2.3°)was smaller in the robot group, but the differences were insignificant(all P>0.05).Conclusion Robot-assisted PKP in the treatment of thoracolumbar compression fractures can improve puncture accuracy, reduce intraoperative fluoroscopy, and optimize bone cement distribution to ensure better early efficacy.
