Design and effectiveness evaluation of a training course for war wound treatment techniques

Abstract:Objective To analyze the teaching effect of a training course for war wound treatment tech-niques.Methods A total of 102 military medical professionals from the grassroots were retrospectively selected as the research objects.All of them received a four-week training course focusing on war wound treatment supported by the War Trauma Medical Center of Daping Hospital,Army Medical University from Jun.1st,2023 to Jun.29th,2023.The course content was designed to center on the rules of war wound treatment,and the main skills required for on-site treatment and early treatment of war wounds.Before and after the implementation of this training,all par-ticipants were guided to have theoretical and skill assessments.The theoretical assessment focused on war wound characteristics and management theory via a close-book exam with the total score being 100.The practice skill as-sessment mainly tested the first aid techniques for war wounds by random selection of an injury card with the total score being 100,too.The assessment results of all participants before and after the implementation of the training course were compared and analyzed.Results After training,the theoretical scores(91.46±8.22)and skill scores(89.89±8.10)of the trainees were significantly higher than those before training(50.02±6.87 and 52.56±6.96,both P<0.001).Moreover,the final scores were significantly improved among different grassroots units,education levels and professional titles(all P<0.001).After training,the overall passing rate of the participants was signifi-cantly higher than that before the implementation of the course(100.0%vs.51.0%,P<0.001).The average satis-faction rate of the trainees was 94.71%.Conclusion The training course of war wound treatment techniques shows good teaching effects,with significantly improved ability of war wound management of health professionals in grassro-ots units.
