Abstract:Objective To investigate and analyze the trauma care capability among different levels of medi-cal institutions in Shanxi Province, and to facilitate the development of trauma center construction. Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate relevant data on trauma care,i.e.,medical resources and treatment capabilities, among hospitals building trauma centers in Shanxi Province. Results A total of 21 advanced trauma centers of prefecture-level and 44 general trauma centers of county-level were collected.Among the prefecture-level and county-level hospitals, the respective number of trauma centers with information platforms were 18(85.7%)and 36(81.8%),with automated reporting systems were 9(42.9%)and 12(27.3%),and with integrated treat-ment mode were 20(95.2%)and 41(93.2%),mainly responsible by the emergency or emergency surgery depart-ments.Moreover,of the prefecture-level and county-level trauma centers,trauma-related beds per 1000 people num-bered 0.87 and 0.68,trauma-related physicians per 1000 people numbered 0.31 and 0.22,trauma ICU beds num-bered 8.76 and 4.30,trauma ward beds numbered 55.90 and 30.82,and trauma physicians numbered 18.45 and 15.30.As for the trauma rescue techniques and equipment,i.e.,ventilator,central venous catheterization, visual la-ryngeal mirror,bed-side ultrasonography,bed-side blood gas analysis, blood transfusion and infusion warm equip-ment,emergency bronchoscope, and marrow cavity infusion, were performed better in prefectural hospitals than in county hospitals, but the emergency resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta was poorly conducted in both levels of hospitals(4.76%and 6.82%).Conclusions The construction degree of trauma centers among va-rious cities in Shanxi Province is unbalanced.Trauma information systems are not highly automated.New trauma care technology and equipment have not been updated. The construction of trauma centers in county and district hos-pitals should be strengthened.
