Abstract:Hemorrhagic shock is accompanied by significant destruction of the vascular endothelial glycoca-lyx.There are many essential factors involved in the progress of endothelial injury, for instance, the occurrence of is-chemia and hypoxia, response of oxidative stress, reaction of inflammation, and activation of the sympathetic adrenal nerve after trauma.Syndecan-1(SDC1),a shedding component of the endothelial glycocalyx, interacts with inflam-matory factors to affect the severity of the disease.Fluid resuscitation,as a main treatment of hemorrhagic shock,di-rectly breaks the recovery of vascular endothelial barrier and integrity of endothelial glycocalyx.Hence, this paper summarizes the SDC1 as an endothelial glycocalyx marker in the pathophysiological process and fluid therapy for hemorrhagic shock,to more completely illustrate the pathophysiological changes in hemorrhagic shock and provide insights in its clinical diagnosis and treatment.
