Abstract:There are many kinds of materials for the repair of bone defects, and autologous bone transplanta-tion is regarded as the"gold standard",which however cannot meet the clinical treatment needs because of the limit-ed bone mass.At present, hydroxyapatite, glass ceramics and other inorganic materials are the main materials used in the clinic, but their development is restricted by the shortcomings of non-biodegradable characteristics and second-ary surgery. In recent years, the research target has shifted to organic materials, among which the gel scaffold is fa-vored by researchers because of their good biocompatibility and capability to load cells, growth factors and drugs. In this paper, the effects of different gel scaffolds in repairing bone defects are reviewed, and new ideas on the selection and preparation of scaffold materials are expected.
