Problems and enlightenment of limb tourniquet application in Ukrainian army in the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Abstract：The tourniquet is an emergency measure to control life-threatening limb bleeding,whose effec-tiveness has been proven in the battlefield in Iraq and Afghanistan,with a low incidence of complications.However,the application of limb tourniquets in the Russia-Ukraine conflict caused serious complications such as amputation,renal failure,etc.This article focuses on the problems and possible reasons for the application of limb tourniquets in the Ukrainian army.It is recommended to store sufficient hemostatic equipment,eliminate degraded tourniquets,and optimize combat casualty care training.This paper aims to improve our combat casualty care system to cope with large-scale combat operations with comparable adversaries in the future.
