Abstract:Objective To investigate the significance of bone metabolism indexes in predicting the risk of postmenopausal osteoporotic vertebral fracture. Methods The clinical data of 110 cases with postmenopausal os-teoporotic were collected in the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, including 51 cases with vertebral fractures in orthopedics department and 59 cases without vertebral fractures in endocrinology department. The lumbar BMD,hip BMD,PINP,BGP,BALP,β-CTX,25-(OH)VitD,PTH,serum Ca2+and P were recorded. Results There was no significant difference among age,weight,height,BMI,BMD,PTH,Ca2+(P>0.05).There was significant difference among serum PINP,BGP,BALP,β-CTX,and 25-(OH)VitD(P<0.05).There was posi-tive correlation between postmenopausal osteoporotic vertebral fracture with serum β-CTX,BALP(P <0.05;B =3.952,B=0.482),and negative correlation with serum BGP(P<0.05,B=-0.233),but there was no correlation with serum PINP and 25-(OH)VitD(P>0.05).Conclusion These bone metabolism indexes(β-CTX,BALP, BGP)have a significant correlation with osteoportic fracture, and can be risk factors to predict fracture in postmeno-pausal osteoporosis,so that early intervention of postmenopausal patients with high fracture risk should be performed to reduce the occurrence of osteoporotic fractures.
