Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical efficiency of external fixator combined with Kirschner wire and locking compression plate in treating patients with complicated intra-articular fracture of distal radius. Methods A total of 78 patients with intra-articular fracture of distal radius were divided into Kirschner wire group (42 cases) and plate group (36 cases). The Kirschner wire group was treated by Kirschner wire combined with external fixator and the plate group by locking compression plate. The bone mineral density, healing rate, joint function and incidence of complications were compared between the two groups. Results There was no significant difference in healing rate, healing time, radius shorten distance and bone mineral density between the two groups (P>0.05).For C1 and C2 type patients, the joint function between Kirschner wire group plate group had no significant difference (P>0.05).For C3 type patients, the joint function score in Kirschner wire group was significantly lower than that of the plate group, and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P<0.05).The incidence of complications between Kirschner wire group and plate group was not significantly different (P>0.05).Conclusion For C3 type fracture patients, the clinical efficiency of external fixator combined with Kirschner wire is better than locking compression plate.
