Prevention and management of burn wound sepsis

Abstract：Burn injury disrupts the integrity and continuity of skin, damages body immune response and even results in immune paralysis.Infections are common, severe and even lethal complications of burn patients.Burn wound sepsis is the state of systemic inflammatory response, usually accompanied by multi-organ dysfunction, which has become one of the major causes for mortality.Prevention is of the highest importance to the treatment of burn wound sepsis.Prompt and proper management of local burn wound is a key and fundamental step.Based on conventional antibiotic therapies, new agents, novel strategies and immune therapy deserve more attention and should be further investigated.Immune therapy aimed at the pathogenic bacteria has broad prospects.
