Treatment of tibial plateau fractures with dual plates via anterolateral and posteromedial incisions

Abstract：Objective To study the clinical effect of the treatment of tibial plateau fractures with dual plates via anterolateral and posteromedial incisions .Methods Totally 86 patients with tibial plateau fractures in our hospital from Jul.2013 to Feb.2015 were selected and randomly divided into the observation group (43 cases) and the control group (43 cases).The patients in the observation group were treated with dual plating via anterolat -eral and posteromedial incisions;the patients in the control group were treated with dual plate fixation via straight in-cision.The clinical data was compared between two groups .Results The time and cost of operation in the obser-vation group were higher than those in the control groups ( P<0.05);there was no significant difference in blood loss between two groups(P>0.05).The hospitalization time,weight bearing time and fracture healing time in the obser-vation group were less than those in the control group;the TPA and PA of tibial plateau in the observation group were better than those in the control group 1 year after therapy ( P<0.05);the scores of HSS and Rasmussen in the obser-vation group were better than those in the control group 6 months and 1 year after surgery(P<0.05).Conclusion Though with higher cost and more surgery time ,the technique with dual plating via anterolateral and posteromedial incisions for the tibial plateau fractures can provide less hospitalization time ,faster bone healing ,better knee joint function,satisfactory effect and stable fixation .It is worth application and also needs individual consideration .
