Comparison of effect of the long type proximal femoral nail antirotation and reconstruction interlocking nail in treating femoral shaft fracture combined with ipsilateral intertrochanteric fracture

Abstract：Objective To compare the effect of the long type proximal femoral nail antirotation ( PFNA) and reconstruction interlocking nail in treating femoral shaft fracture combined with ipsilateral intertrochanteric frac -ture.Methods One hundred cases of femoral shaft fracture combined with ipsilateral intertrochanteric fracture were collected from Jan .2009 to Jan.2014 in our hospital ,who were divided into two groups:the long type PFNA group(group P) and reconstruction interlocking nail group (group R).The operation time,intraoperative bleeding volume,intraoperative fluoroscopy times,length of incision,time of fracture healing, postoperative complications rate,Harris score and functional recovery were recorded .Results The operation time ,intraoperative bleeding vol-ume,intraoperative fluoroscopy and length of incision in group P were more than those in group R (P<0.05).The hip function at postoperative months 6 and 12 and the fracture healing time of patients in group P was better than those in group R(P<0.05).There was no statistical difference in the postoperative complications rate between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Compared with the reconstruction interlocking nail ,the long type PFNA for treating femoral shaft fracture combined with ipsilateral intertrochanteric fracture has several disadvantages such as more invasiveness ,a large amount of bleeding volume and more times of intraoperative fluoroscopy ,but also has ad-vantages of reliable fixation ,short fracture healing time and superior hip function .
