Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of body position on the treatment of elderly unstable inter-trochanteric fracture with proximal femoral nail anti-rotation(PFNA) internal fixation. Methods The clinical data of 70 elderly patients with unstable intertrochanteric fractures in our hospital were analyzed retrospectively ,who were admitted our hospital from Feb.2013 to Feb.2015.The patients were divided into lateral position group (group A,28 males and 12 females) and the supine position group(group B,26 males and 4 females). The operation time, intra-operative blood loss , operative incision length and the times of X ray exposure were compared between the two groups. Results The operation time, intraoperative blood loss, operative incision length and the number of X ray exposure the group B were lower than those in group A ( P<0.05 ) .The postoperative out-of-bed time of group A was significantly higher than that of group B .The fracture healing time was (13.9 ±3.1) weeks in group A,and was(14.9 ±2.1) weeks in group B,and the difference between the two groups was significant (P<0.05).No post-operative complications occurred in either group .Conclusion Compared with the supine position ,keeping lateral position has advantages of less trauma ,shorter operative time ,less bleeding and postoperative duration .It is worthy of clinical use .
