Single incision using universal locking plate for treating SchatzkerⅡ-Ⅳtibial plateau fractures

Abstract：Objective To explore the result and clinical effect of single incision using universal locking plate for treating Schatzker Ⅱ-Ⅳtibial plateau fractures .Methods From Jun.2012 to May 2015,25 cases of tibi-al plateau fractures were treated in our hospital .According to Schatzker classification: type Ⅱ11 cases,Ⅲ9 ca-ses,Ⅳ2 cases and Ⅴ3 cases.Opening with single incision ,reduction and bone implantation and fixation by uni-versal locking plate was conducted .Meniscus avulsion fractures and other associated injuries under the anterior cru-ciate ligament were managed .The long-term recovery of the knee was followed up after surgery and evaluated using HSS score.Results The 25 patients were followed up with an average of (13.6 ±3.6) months.According to HSS(the hospital for special surgery)results(out of 100),joint function was excellent in 15 cases,good in 9 cases, and fair in 1 case,with the excellent and good rate of 96%.One Schatzker-Ⅴpatient developed deep flexion limited mobility,but can walk normally without pain .The healing time of fractures was 3-5 months and the recovery was good.Conclusion Single incision using universal locking plate for treating SchatzkerⅠ-Ⅳtibial plateau fractures has the advantages of less trauma,adjustable direction of the screws,easy operation,stability and good effect.This treatment has a very good clinical application value .
