Application of vacuum sealing drainage in abdominal surgery:status and prospects

Abstract：Through active promotion of the program of “Ten Years ,Hundred Techniques” and active dem-onstration of many domestic experts , the application of vacuum sealing drainage ( VSD ) technology in abdominal surgery has been significantly improved in China .Based on the proposal of the symposium about VSD technology in general surgery organized by the program of “Ten Years,Hundred Techniques” on Jan.5,2016,the author demon-strates the purpose and indications of therapeutic and prophylactic applications of VSD , placement and removal of drainage materials ,postoperative management of VSD ,and abdominal surgical complications related to VSD applica-tion such as secondary intestinal damage and incisional hernia .
