Abstract:Objective To study the clinical effect of proximal femoral nail antirotation ( PFNA) in the treatment of femoral intertrochanteric fracture in the elderly .Methods Totally 96 senile patients with stable femo-ral intertrochanteric fracture in our hospital were selected and divided into the control group ( n=48) and the obser-vation group(n=48).The control group was treated with short reconstruction intramedullary nail and the observa -tion group was treated with PFNA .The general condition ,the treatment effect ,the scores of life quality and postop-erative complications were compared between the two groups .Results The operative time ,blood loss and postoper-ative drainage volume of the observation group were less than those of the control group ,with statistical differences ( P<0.05);the effective curative rate was 83.33% in the observation group and 60.42% in the control group with significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05);the score of life quality of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, with statistical difference(P<0.05);the late complications of the observation group were fewer than that of the control group, with statistical difference(P<0.05).Conclusion PFNA in the treat-ment of elderly patients with unstable femoral intertrochanteric fracture has shorter operative time ,less intraoperative bleeding and high effective rate .It is necessary to prevent the occurrence of late complications .
