Abstract:Objective To explore the neuroimage characteristics and clinical significance of traumatic brain injury in the elderly ( TBIE) .Methods Data of 94 cases of TBIE was retrospectively analyzed, who were admitted into our hospital from Jan.2010 to Oct.2014.There were 52 males and 42 females, with an average age of 72.3(60-90)years.In combination with neurophysiological changes, the neuroimage characters were summarized and ana-lyzed.Results Of the 94 cases,74 cases had positive results in CT images, including intracranial hematoma,con-tusion and brain laceration;25 cases showed significant lesions in CT image within 2 hours of TBI.Some patients also had diseases such as cerebral atrophy and old brain infarction. Conclusion CT is the preferred imaging exam-ination after TBI with features of high sensitivity, efficiency and affordable expense;it is possible for the TBIE pa-tients to develop brain infarction if there are obvious changes in the head CT and the patients'clinical situation wors-en;it is necessary to do follow-up and perform head CT dynamically for the mild TBIE to observe the brain status, and perform MRI examination to define the changes of brain lesions.
