Early repair of Fanelli typeⅢposterolateral corner injury of knee joint:a clinical analysis of 15 cases

Abstract：Objective To discuss the clinical effect of early repair of Fanelli typeⅢposterolateral corner in-jury of knee joint.Methods Fifteen patients with Fanelli typeⅢposterolateral corner injury of knee joint were trea-ted with surgery in our hospital between Jan.2012 and Dec.2013.There were 11 males and 4 females,with an average age of (21.2 ±5.3) years ( range,19-38 years) .The injury causes included traffic injury in 7 cases,sports injury in 6 cases and high falling injury in 2 cases.Eight cases were injured on the left side and 7 cases on the right side.The operation time,blood loss,tibial external rotation angle,complications and Lysholm knee joint function score of all ca-ses were recorded.Results The average operation time was (89 ±38) minutes (range,62-151 minutes) and the av-erage blood loss was (73 ±131) mL (range,62-162 mL).All cases were followed up for (11.5 ±3.6) months ( range,9-17 months) .No infection,internal fixation failure,knee joint rigidity,posterolateral rotation instability of the knee joint and other complications occurred.The reduced range of postoperative tibial rotation angle(compared with the contralateral leg) was 0-5 °(excluding 5 °) in 12 cases,5-10 °(excluding 10 °) in 3 cases,and 15 cases were all more than 10 °preoperatively.At the final follow-up,Lysholm score obviously improved( P<0.05) compared with preoperative score.Conclusion The posterolateral corner of the knee joint is an important part of the knee joint sta-bility system.Early repair of posterolateral corner injury can obtain satisfactory curative effect.
