Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effect of treatment of burn sepsis with integrated Chinese and Western medicine. Methods Forty-seven burn sepsis patients who were admitted into our hospital from Feb. 2013 to May 2014 were selected and randomly divided into the treatment group(n =24)and the control group(n =23).Patients in the control group were treated by conventional treatment, such as fluid resuscitation,antibiotics,nu-tritional supporting, organ function mainteinance, excision, skin grafting and other therapies.Patients in the treat-ment group were treated by conventional treatment and Chinese medicine injection and Chinese herbal medicine. The clinical curative effect and inflammatory cytokine levels were evaluated between the two groups. To evaluate the inflammatory cytokine levels, some laboratory indicators, such as interleukin-6(IL-6),tumor necrosis factor α(TNF-α),lipopolysaccharide(LPS)and C reactive protein(CRP)levels in serum were measured. Results The clinical control rate in the treatment group was significantly higher than that in the control group(χ2 =4.26,P <0.05);there was no significant difference in the total effective rate between the two groups(χ2 =3.713,P >0.05).Before treat-ment,the difference of IL-6 level had no statistical significance(P >0.05)between the two groups. After treatment, the level of IL-6 in the treatment group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P <0.05).Before treatment, the difference of TNF-αlevel had no statistical significance(P >0.05) between the two groups, but the TNF-αlevel in the treatment group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P <0.05).There was no significant difference in IL-6,TNF-αand CRP levels between the two groups before treatment(P >0.05),and the levels of IL-6,TNF-αand CRP in the treatment group was significantly lower than those in the control group(P <0.05).Conclusion During the treatment of burn sepsis, the combination of traditional Chinese and Western medi-cine can achieve better clinical efficacy and improve patients’prognosis compared with the single western medicine treatment.
