Application of rapid prototyping in the field of maxillofacial and head-neck surgery

Abstract：Rapid prototyping is a digital prototyping technology which uses three-dimensional reconstruction of data,produces a prototype of an object molding within a short time through the accumulation of materials under the control of the computer.In recent years,rapid prototyping has been widely applied and rapidly developed in many medical fields in both foreign countries and China,but it has not yet been widely promoted in clinical applications and still has many problems in China.This paper reviews from the aspects of the principle of rapid prototyping tech-nology,the model-producing process as well as its application and future in the field of head and neck and maxillofa-cial surgery.
