Abstract:Objective To observe the treatment outcome by limited incision and minimally invasive hollow screw in the treatment of proximal humeral fractures in adults. Methods A total of 353 cases suffered from proxi-mal humeral fractures during Jan.2007 to Dec.2013 were enrolled in our hospital.Among them, 45 cases with an-gulation of more than 40 degree, dislocation of more than 1 cm, flip of humerus head more than 30 degree as well as fracture and dislocation were treated with limited incision and minimally invasive hollow screw. Results All 45 cases were followed up for 6-18 months. All patients obtained normal bony union during the follow-up period. The mean fracture healing time was 9.86 weeks. No patient developed loosening fixation or necrosis of head of humerus. The clinical results were evaluated by Neer’ s Scale.Excellent results were noted in 37,good in 6 and fair in 2.The ratio of excellent and good results was 95.56%.Conclusion Limited incision and minimally invasive hollow screw in the treatment of proximal humeral fractures was less interferent to the complex of soft tissue surrounding fracture.Meanwhile, less bleeding and faster recovery were achieved.Full functional recovery in the late stage and less complications could be acquired. It was satisfactory in adult patients without distinct osteoporosis, especially in young women with aesthetic demands.
