Hemiarthroplasty with reconstructing femoral calcar for unstable intertrochanteric fracture in senile patients

Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effects of hemiarthroplasty with reconstructing femoral calcar for unstable intertrochanteric fracture in the senile patients .Methods The clinical data of 30 patients who wer treated with hemiarthroplasty with reconstructing femoral calcar in our hospital from Jan .2006 to Jan.2013 were retrospectively followed up and analyzed ,including 9 males,21 females.The patients'age ramged from 70-79 years, with an average of 78 years.Harris hip score system was adopted to access curative effect and Singh index by proxi -mal femur X-ray film was adopted to access the osteoporosis improvement .Results The follow-up time ranged from 6 to 72 months with an average of 22 months.All patients survived the perioperative period without any complica-tions.None of the patients developed infection ,deep vein thrombosis,prosthesis dislocation or periprosthetic femoral fractures during the follow-up.According to the Harris hip score system ,the average preoperative score increased from(21.2 ±5.6)to(86.6 ±3.8) after operations.Singh index increased from(2.3 ±0.7)to(3 ±1.0)(P<0.05 ) .The clinical effects were satisfactory .Conclusion Hemiarthroplasty with reconstructing femoral calcar is a safe and effective surgical selection for unstable intertrochanteric fracture in the senile patients .
