5 years clinical follow-up study on traumatic patellar subluxation treated with arthroscopy

Abstract:Objective To investigate the long-term therapeutic effects of the treatment of traumatic patel-lar subluxation under arthroscopy .Methods From Jan 2005 to Jan 2009,46 patients(56 knees) with traumatic patellar subluxation were treated under arthroscopy with an average follow -up time of five years.The postoperative knees function was assessed with the Kujala patellofemal score .Besides,the patients underwent the axial X-ray with knees in a 30°flexion.Indexes of LPA,CA,PFI,LS indicating the status of patellofemoral joint before and after the operation were measured and compared .Results The function of the patellarmoral joint assessed with the Kujala patellofemal score improved significantly after the operation (P<0.05).The indexes all changed significantly (P<0.05).Conclusion Arthroscopy is an effective way to treat traumatic patellar subluxation .
