Abstract:Objective To evaluate the effect of novel point contact dynamic compression plate ( PC-LCP) in the treatment of long bone fractures .Methods Totally 46 patients with long bone fractures were treated with PC-LCP in our department from May 2012 to May 2013,including 26 males and 20 females with age ranging from 17 to 88 years old (51.5 years old on average). There were 16 cases of femoral fracture,14 cases of tibiofibular fracture,11 cases of humer-al fracture, and 8 cases of radioulnar fracture. The implants were placed under direct view in all patients. Results All patients were followed up for 7-19 months with an average of 13.4 months. All fractures healed after 2 to 5 months(3 months on average). All incisions were primarily healed. No plate-loosening,infection,angulation deformity and nonun-ion were found. Conclusion The novel PC-LCP can provide sufficient blood supply and good fixation which are essen-tial for fracture healing. It is an ideal internal fixation material for the treatment of long bone fractures .
