Abstract:Objective To discuss the occurrence of intracranial infection after traumatic brain injury and its related risk factors for the improvement of the predictability and clinical treatment .Methods Data of 520 pa-tients with traumatic brain injury who were admitted into our department from Jan .2011 to Dec.2013 were retrospec-tively analyzed. There were 308 males and 212 females, with mean age of (40.22 ±8.46)years. The related risk factors of intracranial infection were analyzed .Results Intracranial infection occurred in 32 cases (6.15%).In-tracranial infection usually occurred at 4 to 10 days after injury .Single factor analysis showed that cerebrospinal flu-id leakage, drainage, repeated craniotomy (≥2 times) were significantly related to the occurrence of intracranial in-fection .Logistic regression analysis indicated cerebrospinal fluid leakage and drainage as the independent factors for intracranial infection .Conclusion Intracranial infection is a serious complication of traumatic brain injury .Pa-tients with drainage or cerebrospinal fluid leakage are more prone to intracranial infection ,to which more attention should be taken so as to obtain a better prognosis .
