Pediatric maxillofacial fractures:epidemiology,diagnosis and treatment strategies

Abstract:Pediatric maxillofacial region is anatomically distinct from the adult counterparts and must be managed with respect for future growth and development .The diagnosis and management for pediatric maxillofacial fractures is controversial and also faces challenges .Incorrect and inappropriate treatment of fracture will end with a secondary deformity that is very difficult to correct .However,the differences in management between adult and ped-iatric patients have not been well documented in the literature ,despite of the evolution of advanced diagnostic tech-nology and medical equipment in the management of pediatric maxillofacial fractures .In this article,the authors sys-tematically induce the epidemiology ,diagnosis,and treatment of pediatric maxillofacial fractures .
