Effects of moderate hypothermia on the expression of FasL following traumatic brain injury
Abstract:Objective To study the neuroprotective mecha nism of moderate hypothermia following traumatic brain injury. Methods A free-falling body device was used to produce traumatic brain injury. T he expression of FasL was detected with immunohistochemistry method at differe nt time points following traumatic brain injury. Results The exp ression of FasL began to increase at 1 hour, increased significantly at 6 hours and reached peak at 72 hours following brain injury; the expression of FasL was decreased significantly with treatment of moderate hypothermia.Conclusi on It might be one of neuroprotective mechanism that moderate hypotherm ia downregulates the expression of FasL to reduce cell death.
