Abstract:Objective To explore the lipid metabolic characteristics in people living with HIV(PLWH),providing clinical reference. Methods Lipid profiles were collected from 1 422 PLWH(PLWH group)who visited the Sixth People's Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region between January 2023 and October 2024.These were compared with lipid profiles from 1 115 health-screened employees(non-HIV-infected individuals,PWoH group)serving as controls to conduct a comparative analysis of lipid metabolism characteristics between the two groups. Results The prevalence of dyslipidaemia in the PLWH group(88.05%)was 1.49 times higher than that in the PWoH group(58.92%)(P<0.05),and the rate of carotid plaque formation in PLWH(38.17%)was 2.29 times higher than that in PWoH(16.67%)(P<0.05).Among PLWH,the incidence of dyslipidemia was 91.91%,92.31%,and 92.64%in the HIV load<40 copies/mL group,CD4+T cell count<200/mm3 group, and not yet receiving combination antiretroviral therapy(cART)group, respectively, which were higher than those in the HIV load≥40 copies/mL group(86.04%),CD4+T cell count 200~500/mm3 group(84.67%)and>500/mm3 group(85.32%),and cART treatment group(86.09%)(P<0.05).Conclusion PLWH exhibit elevated dyslipidemia risk, particularly pronounced among those with high HIV viral loads or low CD4+T cell counts.Regular cART recipients demonstrate lower dyslipidemia incidence compared to untreated individuals.Close monitoring of lipid profiles in PLWH is imperative, coupled with early initiation of personalized cART regimens to mitigate dyslipidemia development and reduce cardiovascular risk.
