Abstract:Long-acting antiretroviral agents are a research focus in the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)infection.Lenacapavir(LEN),as a novel, injectable, and first-in-classcapsid inhibitor, acts at multiple stages of the HIV lifecycle when used in combination with other antiretroviral agents for the treatment of multi-drug resistant HIV infected adults who have previously received various treatment regimens, requiring only twice-yearly injections.Recently,LEN has also shown promising results for HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis. This article reviews the latest research progress and prospects the future application value of LEN from the perspectives of its mechanism of action and safety,HIV monotherapy clinical treatment, combination therapy, and prevention.
