A case of chronic active Epstein-Barr virus infection with Epstein-Barr virus associated hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis

Abstract:To analyze the diagnosis and treatment process of a young patient with chronic active EB virus infection combined with EB virus related hemophilic cell syndrome.The patient had no history of rheumatism,tumor,immune deficiency,or drug allergy.The initial symptoms were high fever,rash,and cervical lymph node enlargement,which occurred repeatedly and progressed continuously.Auxiliary examination showed splenomegalia,hemocytopenia,elevated ferritin,elevated soluble interleukin-2 receptor,and EBER in situ hybridization in lymph node biopsy was positive.The diagnosis was chronic active EB virus infection combined with EB virus related hemophilic cell syndrome.After treatment with corticosteroids,immunoglobulin,ganciclovir,and foscarnet sodium,the patient ultimately had a good outcome.
