Abstract:Low-density neutrophils(LDN)represent a significant subset of neutrophils, comprising neutrophils of diverse origins and maturation stages, and exhibiting heterogeneity and diversity in phenotype and function. In viral infectious diseases,LDN can originate from hematopoietic stem cells within the bone marrow or from mature peripheral neutrophils.Depending on the type of viral infection,LDN can exert either antiviral or immunosuppressive effects, which are closely associated with the progression and prognosis of the disease. This review aims to summarize the research progress on the roles and mechanisms of LDN in viral infectious diseases, providing new insights for therapeutic strategies targeting neutrophils in viral infections.
