Diagnosis and treatment analysis of 27 cases of cutaneous anthrax in Ganzi region

Abstract：Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics,clinical features,treatment of skin anthrax,and explore the prevention and control measures for anthrax.Methods A retrospective summary and analysis were conducted on the clinical manifestations,laboratory tests,and treatment of 27 patients with skin anthrax admitted to the Infection Department of Ganzi County People's Hospital in Sichuan Province from November 2020 to November 2023.Results A total of 27 patients were skin anthrax patients,with positive cultures of anthrax bacteria.Before the onset of the disease,they all participated in slaughtering,skinning,and cutting diseased and dead livestock.During this process,the skin was damaged,and after the onset of the disease,the damaged area of the skin appeared as scab ulcers,accompanied by surrounding tissue abscesses.After symptomatic treatment,all 27 patients recovered and were discharged from the hospital.After 3 months of follow-up,the patient showed no discomfort and the wound healed well.Conclusions Patients with skin anthrax have a history of contact with disease or dead animals,with clinical manifestations mainly characterized by fever and skin lesions.Laboratory tests show a positive culture of anthrax bacteria and abnormal white blood cell counts.The key to treating skin anthrax is the early and sufficient use of antibiotics,while also carrying out prevention and education work.
