The epidemiological and clinical characteristics of 328 patients with dengue fever in Fuzhou

Abstract:Objective To analyze the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of 328 patients with dengue fever (DF) in Fuzhou,Fujian Province since August 2023 in order to provide evidence to devise the strategies to prevent and control DF,what else to diagnose and treat DF in the future. Methods The results of epidemiological and other relevant clinical characteristics of 328 patients with DF,which include 313 cases from Fuzhou Infectious Disease Hospital and others from the Infection Disease Department,900th Hospital of Joint Logistic Support Force,were retrospectively summarized and analyzed by cross-sectional study. Results A total of 328 patients with DF was confirmed from August to December,and the peak of time was in September. The spatial distribution was mainly in Gulou(38.1%)、Cangshan(27.7%) and Taijiang District(15.9%),all of which were located in the central area of the city. The group of male accounting for 168/328 and female for 160/328. The age was concentrated between 20 and 80 years old,the adults and elderly constituted the majority,and infants and children were rare. The main clinical symptoms of patients infected DENV were fever,fatigue,headache,myalgia,and joint pain,some patients's symptoms were facial flushing,rash and so on. The DF includes both general and severe type,and the general type accounted for 317,severe type accounted for 11. Moreover,205 patients had thrombocytopenia,which the blood platelets count (BPC) of 26 cases less than 50×109/L. All 328 cases were cured after active treatment. Conclusion In the study,the epidemic of DF was mainly located in the central area of the city,which mainly concentrated on adults and elderly people,and its general type occupied the majority. Moreover,good prognosis can be obtained with timely treatment.
